The Internal Communications Manager is responsible for developing and implementing effective communications programs to team members throughout all aspects of our company – retail, marine manufacturing, hospitality, credit card and conservation – with the goal of supporting priority business objectives, reinforcing company values, and fostering our unique pioneering culture.

Reporting to the Director of Communications, this key role will lead the editorial planning, content development, and production of all internal communications efforts to produce and share amazing stories, and work to ensure internal messages are consistent across all channels and optimized for specific audiences.

We’re seeking an enthusiastic professional with a proven track record managing effective communications programs in both strategic and creative capacities. The ideal candidate has passion for the Bass Pro Shops family of brands and our mission to inspire everyone to enjoy, love, and conserve the great outdoors.


Plan, edit and produce content for a variety of “always-on” internal communications channels and publications including memos, newsletters, videos, graphics, digital signage and more by working collaboratively and providing clear direction to internal and external creative partners to produce engaging and effective results. 25%

Partner with key teams and leaders to ensure organizational initiatives and projects are successfully communicated to employees and stakeholders. This will include maintaining a master internal calendar, developing creative campaigns, crafting materials, creating and implementing an approval process, and sharing updates to various internal stakeholders as the business warrants. 20%

Establish and implement internal communications strategies, policies and procedures while serving as a strategic business partner and resource to key teams including Human Resources, Retail Operations, Marketing, IT and more. 15%

Strongly support the technical aspects of communications delivery channels including mastering use of Emma email campaign management tool for development and reporting; updating and maintaining internal list segmentation in partnership with IT and HR teams to ensure accurate distribution lists and groups; and providing a point of view grounded in an understanding of print and layout guidelines, best practices for photo/video production, and creative asset management. 15%

Monitor, measure, analyze and report on overall effectiveness while continuously identifying ways to optimize internal channels based on performance and industry trends. 10%
Craft messages, talking points and presentations for department leaders to share with their teams, often with tight deadlines and turnaround times. 10%

Collaborate with the communications team to support the business on other key priorities as needed. 5%



Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Communication’s, PR, or related field.

Previous experience with internal communications programs, media/publication and design highly preferred.

Experience: Minimum 5 – 7 years of professional experience in communications, PR, Human
Resources or equivalent experience.

Creative skills: You have the vision and imagination to create compelling communications that effectively engage key audiences, including an eye and understanding for design, digital and video-based productions.

Strategic approach: You can provide thoughtful counsel to teams that ensure successful outcomes for a variety of topics, including serving as a trusted partner with sensitive and confidential information.

Interpersonal skills: You are highly collaborative and can partner with a variety of team members and leaders in cross-functional roles to ensure successful outcomes.

Writing skills: You have excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills as well as the journalistic ability to source stories from team members.
