Nicole Chilton

Director of Marketing & Development

Springfield Regional Arts Council

Artist, writer, and arts advocate.

In 2005, my husband and I started an independent movie theater called Moxie Cinema in Springfield, Missouri. It was, and continues to be, the premier place for independent film in southwest Missouri.

After selling the theater in 2010, I promised myself that I would only be involved with projects and organizations that I felt made a difference in my community. Since then, in addition to raising two children, I devote my time to arts advocacy by working as the Director of Marketing & Development at the Springfield Regional Arts Council and spearheading a local artist swap called Queen City Art Swap. I also contribute writing articles for Metropolitan Bride as well as freelance edit novels and short stories.

Painting is a passion, and I have been fortunate enough to have exhibits at Hotel Vandivort, The Creamery Arts Center, and The Sky Gallery at the Springfield-Branson National Airport. I work quickly and intuitively, capturing emotion rather than reality, and use vivid color and floral motifs as inspiration. My current project, The Dream Diary Project, explores dream interpretation through art journaling, and can soon be found in workbook format for all dreamers.
