TWO OPPORTUNITIES TO BUILD A BETTER SPRINGFIELD
As Springfield Residents and Springfield Creatives members, we care about our community and do what we can to make Springfield great.
This Saturday offers two ways to strengthen our community: Small Business Saturday and the Queen City Craft Show.
Small Business Saturday, a national campaign launched five years ago by American Express, encourages shoppers to jump-start their holiday shopping by supporting local businesses.
Springfield Mayor Bob Stevens issued a proclamation establishing the Saturday after Thanksgiving as Springfield’s “Small Business Saturday” and urges Springfield residents to show their support this Saturday and all year long.
Stevens says, “Our local entrepreneurs, friends, families and small business owners in the community should be supported as they keep and spend the dollars in the state, thus creating a large multiplier for every dollar spent.”
A list of participants can be found at the event page on the downtown website: www.itsalldowntown.com, and will be updated as more businesses join the fun.
QUEEN CITY CRAFT SHOW THIS SATURDAY
We also want to encourage Springfield Creatives to support The Queen City Craft Show this Saturday as part of their “Small Business Saturday” celebration. The Queen City Craft Show was featured at this month’s meeting and six vendors previewed lovely art, handmade pieces, furniture, undeniable scented soaps…we can’t imagine what we’ll encounter with all fifty+ artists, crafters, and makers in the building! Bring all your extra cash and get ready to purchase holiday gifts your friends and family will actually love.
Join us at The Old Glass Place (521 E. St. Louis Street) from 10 am – 5 pm. Tickets are only $4 which covers non-alcoholic beverages, while half the price goes to Rescue One.
The Queen City Craft Show blog explains:
The event, which features over 50 of the best local and regional artists, makers, and crafters aims to be a one-stop shop for unique holiday gifts.
Shoppers can enjoy delicious food and craft beverages while helping local animal rescue group, Rescue One. The $4 admission fee gets shoppers free non-alcoholic beverages all day and half the proceeds will help Rescue One care for abused, neglected and homeless animals and place them in loving homes in the Ozarks. Admission is free for kids 12 and under. The first 50 shoppers will receive a “goodie bag” with items from vendors and event sponsors.
The event is hosted by local companies, Culture Flock and KwanaLee Art and will feature items such as jewelry, stationery, adult and children’s clothing, pottery, artwork, artisanal furniture, and more. Check out the list of crafters & makers here. For more information, please visit queencitycraftshow.com.
Bonus: A free trolley will also be busy transporting shoppers to the other Small Business Saturday participants in downtown Springfield.
